Land Development Status Report
As we approach the close of the 2011 fiscal year, we would like to update you about the progress of the proposed construction project, as well as remind you to take advantage of the tax benefits of 2011 by sending your contributions before the year ends.
The plan for the future home of St. Mary & St. Athanasius in Hillsborough, NJ will be a five building complex, comprising of:
- The Main Church
- A Multi-Purpose Building
- A Community Center serving the Somerset/Hunterdon County communities
- A small Spiritual Monastic Retreat Center
- A Museum – A full scale replica of the Zeitoun Church in Egypt
…as well as the site work development of driveways, parking, septic and landscaping, which may also contain athletic fields, meditation trails and other enhancements.
The project cost as described above is estimated to be approximately $12 million if it were to be built as one project in the very near future. However, realizing the limitation of our current financial resources, we are leaning towards the option of dividing the project into phases based on our congregation’s need and ability to finance each phase. Unfortunately, this approach will lead to double or triple the final cost and over a span of at least 20 years to complete the project.
We are confident that with our Lord’s guidance, and through your prayers, as well as the tireless efforts of Heads of Service, Board of Deacons, the Engineering Committee, the Financial Planning Team and several other professional consultants, we will be blessed with the best plan and execution for our church’s project.
As such, the church hopes that you will also, in wisdom, not wait till the time of construction, but rather work with us in the pre-planning effort of building, by increasing your financial support to this effort from today, and remember to send your tax-deductable contributions before the close of 2011.
